Time For Changes

Ahh, if my life was standing still, I’d certainly be bored to tears.

Last week, I sent out an email to the customers of Pink Ink Studios letting them know that it was time to move on. Time to close the doors and start a new chapter in my life. Managing a large site like PIS over the past four years has been fun, challenging, exciting, educational, frustrating, etc. Lots of emotions come to mind when I think about it all.

We started with a small team, the first consignment style, large storefront for photographers. We outgrew our shopping cart software and purchased a new, better system. We have changed hosts and ended up losing ALL of our data. Talk about a nightmare. We have had designers come and designers go. And, as many photographers know, lots of people have jumped on board the template design train. Sites are popping up left and right, just like the digi-scrap industry did when it blew up.

It’s hard to compete on a larger scale like that. While I LOVE designing, I was finding I was spending more time administrating. Let’s face it, I need an income! So, I made the decision to scale down. Carrie Bombria, a dear friend of mine that also sells at Pink Ink, is coming with me. In fact, we started Two Pear Designs earlier this year, in hopes of creating a subscriber-based template program for photographers. I think it was just the wrong time and we didn’t feel it was going to work. With closing up Pink Ink Studios we can focus on this again…just a bit later. In the meantime, we’ll just be selling our own designs there, through a regular shopping cart system. Kind of like Pink Ink has now, but better and updated.

Carrie and I both can manage our own support issues, and downsizing to just the two of us will give me more time to design. I’m really excited about this. But, in the meantime, I’m busy as a bee working on the backend of things. Pink Ink Studios will close on August 30, so we can open Two Pear Designs on September 1. Wish us luck that everything falls into place, smoothly!

You can “LIKE” Two Pear Designs on Facebook for now. Carrie designed a really fun template set for mini sessions to download for free while you wait!

And, if you follow me on Facebook, you can see that I’m doing a sale every day. Yep, 50% off for 24 hours only on one product. It’s already discounted. Each one expires at 5 p.m. CDST and a new one is posted. But, I only share on FB, so you have to watch for the new item every day there.

Change is good. And, as I said before, if I didn’t have something huge going on in my life, I’d probably get bored to tears. I really do appreciate the support of all my clients that purchase my designs. I hope I make life a bit easier for you in your business world and can’t wait to see what the future holds.
