That it is. Never a dull moment. I recently did an interview questionnaire for a future feature on me, and I had to type out all of what I do. It sounds like a lot. It is.
The blog was neglected this past week…a personal no-no for me. I mean, if you’re going to have a blog and you want people to keep reading, you can’t just abandon it. I did. I’m sorry.
We have been busy with a lot. Including working on the last of our stock of chalkboards. We have to get going on the May production in the next few weeks. Rain makes it hard to plan since we cut and sand outdoors. My mom does most of the production and that has to be the afternoons. Not that I’m complaining because I love love love seeing the green leaves on the trees again. Sadly, we didn’t get much of a spring to enjoy.
I also have hair accessory pieces to get photographed and listed in the store as well. There are just not enough hours. I need to probably put that on my schedule. However, making the hair accessories for me is really just a side, hobby. It’s something I enjoy doing and don’t push myself with them. I don’t want it to be a full time job.
But, the thing that has really kept me on my toes this past week or so has been something I’ve been passionate about doing for some time. I see so many of these websites that are geared towards weddings and showcasing beautiful weddings by photographers. I’m not passionate about that. I am passionate about my senior portrait work. While I don’t have much of it scheduled, and have backed off from shooting due to the economy, I can’t stop thinking about how I could stay involved.
Last year, I started talking about this and I put it into fruition this month. We now are running a new inspiration site for the high school senior portrait photographer, Inside the Locker. If I can’t shoot and be involved that way, I will do it this way. I’m already meeting some amazing photographers that have the creative gene totally going for them. This is what it’s about. Sharing and inspiring. I don’t believe in secrets when it comes to our industry. We won’t ever have a forum that people have to join or pay for. Information should be readily available and those that are successful in the industry will succeed with it.
I’m slowly growing it, getting people on board to contribute, sponsor, etc. We plan on funding it through the advertising. On May 1, many of our sponsors have donated something to a huge launch giveaway party we’ll be having that week. I am completely smitten with this project. I hope you will be too. Come check it out!

Susan - Great website! There simply aren’t enough of these type of sites for the senior market. One that I follow rarely is updated. I will be keeping my eye on this one! Good luck.
