Wow, long time no blog. This is so not like me. I have just been completely consumed with what I like to call, My Passion!
I often wonder how long it takes someone to find what their dreams are, and life’s work really is. I know what mine is, at least for now. I’m a woman so I do reserve the right to change my mind later. RIGHT?!?!?
I am and have been passionate about the high school senior portrait market for some time now and really have been honing in on that in the past year, but more so recently. I consciously made the decision to no longer advertise, show-off, promote, etc. any other type of photography. I still accept photography jobs from previous clients (families, weddings, etc.) and I do plan to do a fall mini session offer - in the studio that works best for me. But, seniors, that’s where it is for me. It’s my passion.
With that being said, my passion spilled over into a new site we developed in April called, Inside the Locker. I had visions of this site for over a year. I wanted it to be a place where we could share and inspire senior portrait photographers. It’s been going great, but I knew we needed something more. After talking with my team behind the scenes, they agreed. So, we just started a new member forum.
At first I thought, I cannot do this. I do not want to manage a forum. But then I realized, I do. I need it. I’m in a stage in my life where I’m not considered “new” and I don’t splurge on each and every new product I see. I focus more on quality vs. quantity and I take the time to grow my business. A forum like the one we have at Inside the Locker is what I do need.
You see, the forum is for experienced and established photographers, and membership is limited within each region. You can’t step on the toes of your competition there and it encourages more sharing this way. This, I love.
My passion has so much coming in the future – all involving the senior portrait market. I have lots of great new products in the works that will be for sale at Two Pear Designs just for senior photographers, and I will be planning those fall workshops for shooting seniors for photographers. Plus, Inside the Locker has a lot of amazing plans too. I am bursting with joy from all that has come my way.
I may not be meant to be that full-time family or wedding photographer, but this, this is where I am meant to be. My passion.
