I shouldn’t call myself a photographer…I mean, look how blurry this photo is? Duh, Holly! FOCUS! It goes to show you, just because you have a great camera (Canon 5D Mark II) and great lenses doesn’t mean you can take great pictures. I totally focused this wrong. BAD PHOTOGRAPHER!
But, that’s not the point of my post today.

My plan this week is to paint one wall per day. So, this weekend, I can do any touchups and cleanups. Then, I decided, I need to paint the ceiling. My decision couldn’t have come at a better time because as I was pulling off the painter’s tape from yesterday’s wall, parts of the paint that I put on the wall came with it. Oh, and let’s not forget the baseboard, where I have tiny pieces that not even a skinny bitch could scrape off with her bony fingers.
Since I have opted to just paint the trim and ceiling, I decided to forgo the painter’s tape and be sloppy with the wall paint. In fact, I purchased this awesome painter’s edge this past weekend, but somehow it didn’t end up in my car. I have lost it – probably never got it out of the shopping cart since it was too big to put into a bag. Yay! We won’t even go there about the ENTIRE gallon of paint that fell from the Jeep to the driveway – leaving us a beautiful spot of Sharkey Gray to admire until the sun from the midwest finally wears it down.

So, you can see that the paint color is pretty light – which I am happy with. You can see the white ceiling from prior – that really needed to be refreshed after almost 8 years. I am going back to get that edger so I don’t have to tape that crap again. BUT, I need your help! I want to know what you think about the gray for the ceiling too, or do you think white? One day, if I stay in STL long enough, I will put up crown molding which would be painted white. I tested the gray on the trim, but am thinking for sure white there. My furniture will be white with glazing – antiqued.
What would you do? I need to go to Home Depot tonight or tomorrow to get it so I’ll have it for the weekend. Help!?!

Sinead - Paint the ceiling white. I promise you, you won’t regret it. I painted my living room grey a few months ago, but painted the ceiling and the trim white. It is so soothing and uplifting. I think an all-grey room would feel very oppressive in short order.
I will email you some pics of my room, just to give you an idea. Love your creativity, BTW!
Amy - I love a painted ceiling and wanted to do it in my house. I did a part of my house where two rooms transition and I love the painted ceiling part! I don’t think the walls and the ceiling should be the same color though
