Well, it’s started…the home office remodel project that is. I have been packing up things in banker’s boxes (love those things) and listed the two big furniture pieces on my blog (both spoken for and being picked up this Saturday by their new, lucky owners).
Since I am losing my desk this weekend, I had to make a temporary workspace. My ultimate goal is get the room as cleared out as possible so when I paint I’m not cursing up and down because I have to keep stopping to move things around and out of my way. Last night, we picked up the little desk I picked up last year in Rosebud from the studio and brought it home. It’s now in my bedroom.

Everything in my bedroom got shifted around to make room for my computer’s temporary home during said remodel. I have learned a few things along the way.
1. Moving your computer gear/setup is never as easy as you think. There are lots of wires and lots of parts to carry and hopefully get plugged back in properly.
2. I need to keep canned air on hand.
3. An old sock works great at dusting things off (see #2).
4. When you drop your Lexar Firewire 800 readers, they probably still will work. Just don’t drop them again.
5. I could never work from a desk this small on a permanent basis. There is absolutely no room for me to do paperwork or get out books and magazines for inspiration. Though I love this desk, and I thought maybe I would want to use it in the new room, I don’t think that will be happening.
6. I really despise that my computer components are black. I dream of an all-white setup – no, I’m not racist! I am smitten with the shabby, flea market style, all-white decor.
7. Plugging my monitor (it’s really an HD television) means I wipe out my desktop settings…who knew?
8. The office packing is going to be a lot more work than I ever imagined. I seem to take on quite a bit, then regret it in progress.
9. My white baseboards didn’t look white after I started shifting things around. Hello cat hair and dust bunnies!
10. The dogs are now happy that I’m in the bedroom.
