The Ugly Before Pictures

Okay, so it’s not “ugly” per se, but it’s not really me. A few years ago, I painted the room a chocolate brown. I installed the tile flooring (this is an office/craft space, and I wanted easier cleanup from carpet) and put up the new baseboards. You can tell, if you look closely, I never puttied and painted the baseboards. I never got around to it at all. I found the panels at IKEA (which I will TOTALLY give to someone if they just pay the shipping) as well as the green/viney decal (which I now have to scrape off because I it was a sticker, not vinyl). I put up a couple of those wires across the back wall to hang things (IKEA again) and really didn’t do much more to it.

This weekend, I moved out all the boxes. I broke down the really bad bookcase (see it on the floor) and mom decided she wants the other bookcase moved to the studio until she gets the garage cleaned out to use it in there. Yes, we are moving ONE more thing in all this mess. I plan to get rid of those ugly plastic rolling carts below too. If you live local, when I’m done, you can have them if you come get them.

The pile of magazines on the bookcase, as well as the box on the floor (full of old magazines) needs to be recycled. I may have to load them up and drive them somewhere. I don’t dare leave that burden on my trash guy and put them ALL in my recycle bin. That’s too heavy. And, rude. We are working on new doggy bed ideas too. That chair, it will go in mom’s sewing area. Why? Well, I’ll blog that later (my new find).

I especially loved my idea of a shower curtain for the closet – that was too short. I can’t wait to try a few new things here. I like them better than those sliding doors so I can get to things easier. And, I eventually would love my brother to move the modem and router to the new component closet in the hall (where our Wii and other electronics are wired behind the television above the fireplace). Right now, it sits in that cabinet there in the left corner.

Ha – I also never replaced the vent that I took down to paint…I am so classy.

It’s funny how this wide angle lens makes this room seem smaller than it is. It’s probably one of the bigger bedrooms in the house. I’m ready to start painting. Sharkey Gray, from Martha Stewart, but in Behr Ultimate Premium…I love no priming.

See ya later this week with more updates!

The Window Treatment Dilemma | Holly McCaig Designs & Photography - [...] Spending over $100 on window treatments is a cringe in itself for me, so I have to make the rest or re-purpose something else…hence the current black rods I already own. I paid $12 for a pair at IKEA a few years ago (refer to BEFORE pic). [...]
