Elizabeth & Eric | A Love Story (Dogtown, STL)

Last Thursday it was raining. Yes, raining. Whoa! Surprised? It is spring in St. Louis so that shouldn’t really surprise anyone. But, it was still quite chilly. I have always wanted to capture a cute couple with rainboots and umbrellas for the engagement session. You just can’t always plan for that. Convincing a client that the rain is okay to shoot in isn’t always easy to do. But, Elizabeth & Eric were up for it. My mom was a trooper assistant, holding an umbrella over me and my camera – and battling the frigid wind at the end. We won’t discuss the possibility of me and Eric both getting snapped by a traffic cam (shhh!)

They met on a blind date, just down the street from where Elizabeth lived, in Dogtown. They met on the corner of Plateau and McCausland and Elizabeth shares that Eric remembered vividly stepping on her foot. Elizabeth doesn’t remember. What she remembers is texting her best friend while standing on the corner: This is where I am and this is what I’m wearing…you know, in case something happened to her. Hearing stories of how couples meet are so cute. And, now, the two are planning their June nuptials. I’m so excited for them.

It was the perfect setting to shoot in Olympia, where they had their first date. The owner was so generous to allow us free reign of their restaurant. You don’t find that kind of hospitality too often. I found it more fitting to put their story of photos into a slideshow because well, I just loved too many to pick a few to blog.
