My Backyard | St. Louis Photographer

I saw someone else do this, and I decided I’d post a challenge on Two Pear Designs, the new site Carrie and I have started as a design resource for photographers. Actually, I posted it to our Facebook page.

In light of the changes I’ve been embracing, I admitted I was falling out of love with photography…in the sense of shooting for others. Just experiencing some things that made me feel bitter and unhappy. I am a creative soul. I have to be creative. I hadn’t touched my camera creatively in weeks. So, the challenge was born.

Today only. Grab your camera. Take 10 minutes. Go outside in your yard. Shoot. Post to our Facebook page.

That’s it. Just see the beauty in your own yard. Don’t think about it. Just do it.

I used my 100mm f/2.8 macro for these shots and enhanced them artistically through the awesome Formula One Actions (I usually never use vintage processing on my client photos, but for me, I love these).

So, what did I take away from this quick challenge?

1 – it’s cold outside!

2 – i saw beauty in the things that were dying in my yard.

3 – i have some cool artwork for my walls in my home office remodel!

Holly - ha ha! I was wondering if someone would catch that. We may try and superglue his head back on.

Rebekah - Those are gorgeous Holly. I may have to find some time while it’s light out and do this myself. :)
